Colorado energy options

Start with the electric and gas utilities serving your address. A statewide label such as “deregulated” is not enough to establish eligibility for a particular service.

Electricity

Start with your utility

Colorado's Legislative Council published an updated explanation of electricity generation, delivery and regulation in May 2026. Use your utility's current rate schedule for an account-level comparison; this guide has not verified a general residential supplier-shopping program. [1]

Before you decide: Ask about the tariff assigned to your meter and whether time-of-use or other utility rate options fit your consumption.

Natural gas

Confirm the tariff and eligibility

For gas, ask the utility whether your account can use a separate commodity supplier and what transportation charges would remain. The electricity source below does not establish gas-program eligibility, so no statewide gas switching offer is presented here. [2]

Before you decide: Business customers should request written eligibility and a complete transportation-service cost breakdown before seeking third-party supply.

Continue your comparison

Check the total price and contract terms before accepting an offer. For service or billing questions, find the right contact.
